1862 Railroad Convention of companies in Virginia, Tennessee east of Knoxville, and North Carolina north of Weldon, which submitted resolutions to allow railroads to protect their bridges against the open force or secret incendiary. These were submitted to the General Assembly by Governor Letcher.
