Summary
February 9, 1849 Communication from former Governor William Smith in response to Judge Richard H. Baker's communication to the House of Delegates, in which he defended his judicial actions in the murder case against Hunter Hill. As Baker had been critical of Smith's characterization of him, the governor responded with a defense of his conclusions.
