Summary
January 1849 transmittal by Virginia Governor John B. Floyd to the Virginia House of Delegates of Florida's resolutions in support of the southern states in objecting to prohibiting slavery in the District of Columbia or any territory south of the Missouri Compromise; originally transmitted by W.D. Moseley, Governor of Florida to the Governor of Virginia. Of note, the Florida legislature, which sent said resolutions to all governors of slave states, also suggested that a Southern Convention might be needed in defense of their rights
