"This translation is primarily based on the printed consolidated text published in the Colección de Constituciones de Costa Rica, San Jose: Imprenta Nacional: 2000; and on corresponding or subsequent consolidations consulted since the original publication of the translation in World Constitutions Illustrated in 2012. The most recent of these is the texts provided by: the Supreme Tribunal of Elections, https://www.tse.go.cr [consulted August 2020]. It should be noted that the various consolidations are not in total agreement concerning the division of certain Articles into paragraphs. There is also variation in the presentation of the Transitory Provisions. The printed text of 2000 has been generally followed here, with reference to the individual amending laws as required. Concerning the most recent amendment: Law No. 9849 of 20 May 2020, concerning Art. 50 and inserting a new Transitory Provision [Concerning] Article 50-XX, the translation was based on the Spanish text as published in the official gazette La Gaceta, Year CXLII, No. 159, of 2 July 2020: https://www.imprentanacional.go.cr [consulted July 2020]."--Title page verso.
