Summary
"Over the past two decades Chinese engagement in Africa has attracted an increasing amount of global attention. In November 2006, representatives from 48 African countries, consisting of over 1,500 businesspeople and 41 heads of state, attended the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit. For the first time, China demonstrated its impressive political influence over the entire continent. In 2009, China surpassed the United States to become Africa's largest bilateral trading partner. Despite recent drops in the volume of Sino-African trade, following the 2014 peak of $210 billion, China has remained the leading partner in Africa"-- Provided by publisher.
