"This translation is based on the previous translations of the Constitution of 1989 published in World Constitutions Illustrated. These followed the official French texts published in the Journal Officiel de la République Algerienne: No. 76 of 27 Rajab 1417 corresponding to 8 December 1996; No. 25 of Aouel Safar 1423 corresponding to 14 April 2002; No. 63 of 18 Dhou El Kaada 1429 corresponding to 16 November 2008; and No. 14 of 27 Joumada El Oula 1437 corresponding to 7 March 2016, as provided by the Secretariat General of the Government: http://www.joradp.dz [last consulted March 2016]. The translation of the latest reform, adopted at the Referendum of 1 November 2020 and promulgated by Presidential Decree No. 20-442 of 30 December 2020, is based on the official French draft and final texts published in the Journal Officiel de la République Algerienne: 59th Year, No. 54 of 28 Moharram 1442 corresponding to 16 September 2020, and 59th Year, No. 82 of 15 Joumada El Oula 1442 corresponding to 30 December 2020, as provided by the Secretariat General of the Government: http://www.joradp.dz [consulted September 2020 and January 2021]. The texts are identical with the exception of Art. 142 which, in the final text, has a second paragraph not included in the draft text."--Title page verso.
