Summary
Maine Governor Dunlap's submission to the Legislature of a report with resolutions from the South Carolina Legislature regarding protection of the rights of slave-holding states and abolition societies in non-slave states. The report from South Carolina is signed by Jacob Warley, Chair of the Senate, and Jas. S. Miles, Chair of the House of Representatives. Of note, the resolutions included statements that these societies were in direct violation of the compact of unions, and slavery was the concern of slave states and not to be interfered with by non-slave states.

A letter of transmittal is addressed to the Senate and House of Representatives, and is signed by Robert P. Dunlap.
