Summary
Letter from the Kemp P. Battle, North Carolina Public Treasurer, to R.Y. McAden, Speaker of the House of Commons, in response to a request for information on the value of taxable property of the state, and the tax increases needed to pay the interest on the public debt. McAden notes the difficulties in providing the requested information, and provides estimates. The report includes the following tables: Property taxed ad valorem, Persons and articles liable to a specific tax, Subjects of taxation which are taxed on their annual receipts or earnings, and a table of subjects, on which no estimate as been made, on account of the absence of data.
