Summary
Special report of the Board of Supervisors of the State Seminary of Learning and Military Academy to the Louisiana Legislature. Topics covered include why some beneficiary cadets were not admitted (they could not read or write in the English language), money received from the State Treasurer, qualifications for admission, what cadets must bring or purchase, costs, and other information about the academy. A letter of transmittal is addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the State of Louisiana, and is signed by S.A. Smith, Vice President of the Board of Supervisors of the State Seminary of Learning and Military Academy, Baton Rouge, La., February 11th, 1861. The report includes copies of correspondence from W.T. Sherman, Superintendent.
