Topics include assessment of sums to be paid by cities, towns, districts, etc., which are to be named is a schedule which is not included; assessments for male poll over the age of 16; assessments for inhabitants according to the value of real estate and personal estates; and assessments for merchants for goods, wares, and merchandise. The act also gives instructions for selectmen or assessors who are responsible for tracking information. There are separate instructions for persons associated with Harvard and Williams and Amherst Colleges or who are ministers.

The title ends with a blank space. The first page refers to "the following schedule" and a note on page 2 indicates "The Schedule is omitted--being in blank."
Dutton and Wentworth were printers to the state in 1828.
