Summary
Petition to the Michigan Legislature from Michigan electors noting that "the provisions of law which require the election of Overseers of Highways, appropriations for Roads and Bridges, &c., to be made by a viva voce vote at the close of several township elections, would be found much more conducive to the public interest, if so amended, as to to [sic] require said viva voce elections to take place at noon, instead of at the close of election on said day." (Page 1). The petitioners ask for this change. The petition includes the names of numerous signatories, beginning with John L. Tollman.
