Summary
Report of a minority of the Michigan House Committee on Public lands about the proceeds realized from the sale of swamp lands that were received through an act of the United States Congress. The minority report concludes "the net proceeds of these lands prudently managed, will eventually amount to at least six millions of dollars, the interest of one-fourth of which will give to the drainage fund nearly one hundred thousand dollars per annum--expressly set apart for that purpose--and three times this amount annually distributed with the interest of the Primary School Fund, will enable the State to educate every child within its borders at the public expense; an achievement almost unparalleled in the history of our sister States." The report is signed by Amos C. Blodgett, Minority of Committee on Public Lands.
