Summary
Report of a Michigan House select committee on the Grand Rapids Canal "appointed to inquire into the matter of the appropriation of 25,000 acres of land to construct a canal and locks around the rapids of Grand River, at Grand Rapids, and to report to the House such a disposal of the matter as may to them seem advisable, in accordance with resolutions of the House of Feb. 13th and 19th." (Page 1). The report includes information on work completed on the canal, impact on the navigability of the Grand River, location of the canal and a dam, financial information, impact on lands bordering the dam, and time estimates for completion. The report is signed by H.M. Moore, Chairman Select Committee.
