Report of a Michigan House committee in response to a petition of citizens of Lapeer County, Michigan, to the Michigan Legislature. The report indicates, "That an act to provide for the construction and improvement of the northern wagon road from Port Huron, in the county of Clair, through the counties of Lapeer and Genesee, to Corunna in the county of Shiawassee, approved April 3, 1848, appropriated twenty thousand acres of land, valued at $25,000, upon and for the improvement of the said northern wagon road; and Alvin N. Hart, of Lapeer, was appointed a special commissioner under said act to expend said appropriation." The committee found gross negligence of duty by Alvin N. Hart, Special Commissioner. The report includes a table entitled "Appropriation, Act No. 285, 1848," which gives names to whom certificates were drawn, dates, and amounts. The report is signed by H.N. Lathrop, Ch'n select Com.
