Summary
Letter from Alexander Winchell, Professor at the University of Michigan, to Thos. Mitchell, Chairman of Committee on Geological Survey. Winchell makes note of past geological surveys and the collection of specimens which are housed at the University of Michigan. Winchell recommends the cataloging of botanical and zoological specimens collected during those surveys. Winchell indicates that geological surveys were not completed, and proposes ideas for the organization of the specimens and continued survey work. He provides estimates for staff and costs.
