"In Senate, March 14, 1838. The Committee on Public Charitable Institutions, to whom was referred so much of His Excellency the Governor's Address as relates to the State Lunatic Hospital, with the Reports of the Trustees, Treasurer and Superintendent of the same; also, the petition of the town of Carver, praying for an alteration in the law by which persons acquitted of capital offences on account of insanity, may be supported at that institution at the expense of the Commonwealth; and a joint Order of the 31st of January last, directing the Committee to visit said Hospital, ask leave to submit the following report."--Page 3.
