Series

Note
Memorial asking the Maine legislature to assist in the construction of a canal and locks around Aroostook Falls. The memorial notes "that the agricultural, lumbering, and other industrial pursuits, of the Aroostook valley individually, and of the state generally, would receive immense benefit and encouragement, by the construction of a canal with locks, around the falls of the Aroostook river, about two miles from its intersection with the river St. John." (Page 1). One issue with the construction is that the placement of the canal and locks would be in New Brunswick, Canada. It is signed at end by John McClusky and 48 others. The memorial is followed by "Report of William G. Bent's survey and estimates for the construction of a canal and locks around Aroostook Falls."
