The communication from the land agent is dated Sept. 28, 1853, is signed by A.P. Morrill, Land Agent, and includes a table showing expenses of the Land Office, expenditures on roads and bridges, payments to commissioners, and surveyor general, total expenses of the land department, annual sums paid to the State Treasury, and abatements made on bonds for timber plus notes for lands reverted to the state for non-performance. The data shows annual amounts for 1820 through 1853.
