Preceded by a certificate authorizing the person named to receive donations for the college, and a blank form of receipt, with text: "This may certify, that [blank] is fully authorized to receive any donations that may be made to the Corporation for founding and endowing a college in the colony of Rhode-Island ... [signed:] Stephen Hopkins [printed:] Chancr. [signed:] Thos. Eyres [printed:] Secry." The seal of the college is attached. The John Carter Brown Library copy is dated Oct. 11, 1765.
