Summary
The trouble began on October 18, 1755, with the destruction of Mahanahy and its people. There were five more attacks by the end of the year. There were always killings and kidnappings, with houses and outbuildings burned and all animals either killed or driven away. The French had built on their big win over General Braddock by turning the Indians loose on the settlements.
