Summary
This piece was meant to be inserted in another document. Certain Native Americans, notably the Delawares, had accused the Proprietors of forging a deed to steal all of their land. The Proprietors stoutly denied this and sent an agent with the deeds to be examined in the presence of William Johnson. The Proprietors expected a public assurance that they had behaved honorably toward the complainants.
