"This translation was made available by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador in 2010 and previously published in World Constitutions Illustrated. Pending a revised translation of the whole of the text, new translation has been made of the Articles amended at the Referendum of 7 May 2011, of the Articles amended by the National Assembly on 3 December 2015, of the Articles amended at the Referendum of 4 February 2018, and by the Article amended by the National Assembly on 17 January 2021. These have been consolidated by new translation of the whole of each Article affected. The translation of the 2011 amended Articles was based on the Spanish text presented in the Official Gazette: Registro Oficial, Supplemento, No. 490, of 13 July 2011; and the translation of the amended Articles of 2015 was based on the text presented in the Official Gazette: Registro Oficial, Supplemento, Year III No. 653, of 21 December 2015: http://www.registroficial.gob.ec [consulted 2011 and 2015]. The amendments of 2015 were declared unconstitutional by Decision 018-18-SIN-CC of the Constitutional Court of 1 August 2018. As a result, the prior texts of Articles 104, 142, 158, 211, 212, 229, 261, 264, 326, 370, 372, 384 and Transitory Provision One were restored. Articles 114 and 144 were also amended in 2015, but replaced, constitutionally, at the Referendum of 2018. The translation of the Articles amended at the Referendum of 4 February 2018 is based on the Memorandum of the National Electoral Council No. CNE-SG-2017-2674-M of 4 December 2017: http://www.cne.gob.ec [consulted February 2018]. These amendments concern Arts. 46, 112, 114, 144, 205, 207, 233, and 407.
