Summary
Report of the Committee on the Norwalk Railroad disaster, submitted to the Connecticut General Assembly during the May 1853 session. Of note, this was the first major U.S. railroad bridge disaster when a travelling train plunged into the Norwalk Harbor off of an open draw bridge; the report concluded that the company, the New York and New Haven Railroad Company, was negligent.
