Believed to be written by John Dickinson.
At end: "Done in Congress by unanimous consent, this twenty-sixth day of May, one thousand seven hundred and seventy-nine. John Jay, president."
Followed by the order of Governor Jonathan Trumbull, of Connecticut, June 9, 1779, that the address be published and read at religious services throughout the state.
