Summary
Typographia, an ode on printing, which included a dedication to Governor William Gooch by J. Markland, the poet of this ode, and the poem. In the dedication, Markland noted that the ode celebrated the establishment of the printing press in Williamsburg.
Note
Dedication signed: J. Markland. L.C. Wroth suggests that the author is the "John Markland, attorney, New Kent" listed among subscribers to the "Collection of acts in force in Virginia," printed in 1733 by Parks. See E.G. Swem's introduction to the photographic facsimile of Typographia published at Williamsburg in 1926.
