Summary
Compilation of extracts from title deeds, primarily indentures of assignment by deed poll, indentures of feoffment, indentures of lease and release, bonds, probate, and wills for an estate at Elwick in county Durham. The deeds date from March 10, 1603 to the January 12-13 1786 indenture of lease and release between George Simey, William Robson, and William Ettrick of High Barns. There is a fair copy of the will of Ralph Cook of Elwich, one of the parties to two indentures of lease and release, on the verso of leaf 18 with a 18 x 16 cm piece of paper affixed to it with wax. On the verso of leaf 29v there is a note about proper conveyance advising that the parties join in levying a fine in order to destroy the estate "injudiciously limited to them by release of 1783" singed by [Bt.?] Hopper Williamson and dated 27th April 1789. Tears on first and last leaf along creases; repair to tear on last leaf attempted with scotch tape. Caption title on leaf 1r and 30v. . Annotations on 18r, 22r, 27r, and 29r. Letters accompanying manuscript in Robbins files.
