The will of John Bristow of Sutton in the parish of Woking in the County of Surrey, leaving his property to Jenny Peto, his great-niece, with attached seal and probate. The will is dated May 6th, 1796 and was witnessed by Richard Winkworth, William Morris, and William Dean. Probate form, 19 x 18 cm, printed on paper and filled in, is dated April 27, 1797 and is affixed to the document by a strip of parchment which also carries the seal. Probate was executed in Surrey before James Hill and signed by Thomas Adderley. Note on left margin, "Sworn under six hundred pounds." Square of blue paper embossed with 5 pounds, 10 shilling stamp, with monogrammed square of paper on its verso, on the probate form. Stain on upper right corner, 0.6 cm hole on line 5. "Probate of the will of Mr. John Bristow, decced. dated 27 April 1797" written on verso.
