Bull issued by Urban IV to the priors of St. Jacob extra Northampton and Alecester and to the archdeacons of Northampton, Lincoln, and Worcester. The Benedictine abbot and convent of Evesham have complained to Rome that Simon, archdacon of Estridig., William of Davintre, knight, and other clerics and laypeople of York and Lincoln have interfered with the abbey's tithes, possessions, and other matters. Urban enjoins the priors and archdeacons to convene a hearing. "Dat[um] Viterbij. xij [kalends] octobr[is] pontificatus n[ost]ri. anno primo." Two small holes at foot of text; four triangular incisions for bullae. Staining, particularly at the top of the document, and wear with partial obscuring of text. Notes on verso in ink and pencil by later hands. Document stored with two negative reproductions in envelopes which are now in the Robbins files.
