Local Note
SHELVED AND BOUND as part of the Council's official records (ESCOR) issued for each session or year; the ESCOR series is typically arranged in the following order for each year: plenary meeting records, annexes (1948-1973), supplements.
CONTENTS: (i) sessional reports of the various subsidiary bodies which report to the Economic and Social Council; (ii) beginning with the Council's 8th session, a sessional compilation of the Council's resolutions, always issued as supplement no. 1 (up to the 7th session inclusively, these sessional resolution compilations were not issued as supplements).
NUMBERING varied for each session until the mid nineties. From 1997 onward, most subsidiary bodies issued their reports under the same supplement number each year.
HISTORY: no supplements were published for the first session of the Council; for the second session, only two "special supplements" were issued; for the third session, ten supplements were published containing annexes which reproduce documents that pertain to the various meetings held during the third session.
DOCUMENT SYMBOLS: supplements are issued under one or two U.N. document symbols, e.g. Supplement No. 7 of the Economic and Social Council Official Records, 2009, contains the Commission on the Status of Women report on its 53rd session and carries the double symbol E/2009/27 - E/CN.6/2009/15. The first symbol identifies the supplement as a document issued in the document series of the Council, the "parent body" (E/-), whereas the second symbol indicates that the supplement is also issued in series E/CN.6/-, assigned to the Commission on the Status of Women (a subsidiary body of the Council which authored and submitted it).
