Lectures on the Pandect and inheritence law given in Berlin by Friedrich Ludwig von Keller between Michaelmas 1847 and Easter 1848 with marginal glosses. There is also a list of Roman emperors on the verso of the last folio. Lecture notes appear to have been copied and compiled by Gustav Gutsch. Leaves 276-282 and 373-377 left blank. Bound with two printed outlines of lectures in Roman law. The lectures copied herein follow the outline of "Pandekten und Erbrecht."

Historical Data
Friedrich Ludwig von Keller, born in Zürich in 1799, was a jurist and politician. Educated in Berlin and Göttingen, he became a professor in civil law at the Universität Zürich in 1826. He was also a leader of the radical liberals, acted as Obergerichtspräsident in Zürich between 1831 and 1837, and played a role in reorganizing and codifying Zürich civil law. In the wake of the Züriputsch of 1839, he left Zürich for Baden. Keller became a professor of law at the University in Halle 1843, where he remained until 1847, when he left for the Universität Berlin. In Berlin, Keller became a conservative member of the Prussian Abgeordnetenhaus and was subsequently ennobled. He died in Berlin in 1860.

Labelled inscribed in ink "Ex libris m.[ser?]. Gùstavi Gùtsch, 1848" affixed to front pastedown. A "Gift to the School of Jurisprudence" bookplate also affixed to front pastedown.
