Summary
Document establishing, before Brisce de Laon "clerc jure" of Pierre, the bishop of Chaalons, that Guillaume, called "la Berbis" and proctor to Huc Vidasme de Chaalons and Seigneur de Basoches and his wife Aelis, as "notre procureur general". As magistrate, Guillaume is charged with the sale of a house belonging to Jehanson Biauris to Jagmar of Sens. Dated "le Mardi auant [mi?] quaresme l'an de grace mil. trois cens qui[n]ze," i.e. on the Tuesday before Quadragesima in the year of grace 1315, most likely March 2, 1316 by modern reckoning. Gilles de Aucnay and Bailli de Chaalons also named. Upper left corner damaged with text missing; ink faded on upper right corner. Stain that appears to be red wax on lower right corner.
