It is based on the official Spanish text published in the Diario Oficial, Vol. No. 281, Number 234, 16 December 1983. The English translation of the Constitution of El Salvador of 1962 prepared by the Pan American Union/Organization of the American States (PAU/OAS), and as reproduced in World Constitutions Illustrated, was consulted where there was a close correspondence between the Articles of the 1983 and 1962 texts."--Title page verso.
